Cars of Iceland
Recently an member of the Statsauto team ventured out to Iceland for an eventful vacation. Little did he know that Iceland was full of rare and expensive cars especially in the SUV segment. As you can imagine given the rugged nature of Iceland there were some serious SUVs out there.
Here are a photos of some of the cars that caught our attention!
The Toyota Land Cruiser is Toyota's longest running series of models first made in 1950. As of 2018, the sales of the Land Cruiser totaled more than 6.5 million units worldwide. This redesigned Toyota Land Cruiser was introduced in late 2007. Known as the 200 Series, it shares the Lexus LX 570’s platform and overall design.
Produced since 1951 this is a stunning Fifth generation Nissan Patrol. This SUV driven mainly by off road enthusiasts all over the world from the Arctic circle to the desserts of Dubai. Too bad these cars car extremely rare in North America.
For the 2005 - 2013 year a significant facelift model was released, with new headlights, box flares on each guard and larger tail lights. This particular car showed beautifully with its clean modifications and gold color.
Also a fifth generation Nissan Patrol however, it is the Y61 model which ran from 1997 - 2004 and was replaced by the beautiful gold Patrol found above. Available in 4.5-and 4.8-litre petrol, 2.8-, 3.0- and 4.2-litre turbo diesel and 4.2-litre turbo diesel intercooler variants.
This Nissan Patrol caught our attention from a long distance away! For good reason its a extreme off roader. Look at those tires! From driving on glaciers to scaling Icelandic volcano’s, this car can tackle any terrain.

The Land Rover Defender was first launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948. The biggest change to the Land Rover came in late 1990, when it became the Land Rover Defender, instead of the Land Rover 90 or 110.

Gorgeous Land Rover Defender. This was by far the most popular SUV we saw in Iceland.
Who doesn't like the beautiful G-wagon. This clean G-63 AMG was parked all evening in front of the most popular nightclub in Reykjavik.
2007 Honda S200. If you have a convertible in Iceland any weather above 10 degrees means top down. This beauty was spotted driving through the bar scene late Saturday night in Reykjavik.
This beast was spotted while travelling through Iceland’s Golden Circle.
This second generation Sprinter was introduced in 2006 and was voted Van of the Year 2007 and again in 2008 by Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine. I bet they never imagined a sprinter with these sort of modifications.
Tourists on in these vans were truly travelling in style.
Who knew Iceland has American muscle cars? Lets just say on this Sunday afternoon there was a parade of them. Most notably over 10 classic Mustangs in a row. We just happened to get a picture of this clean muscle car, but there was a lot of them!
