World's 10 Best Engines.

The engine is the heart and soul of every vehicle - without it, your car is just an empty shell that offers no use other than shelter.

Selected by Ward's AutoWorld magazine, Ward's 10 Best Engines is an annual list of the ten best engines available in the U.S. market. You may think that Ferrari, Pagani, or Rolls Royce engine would be at top of the list each year. However, Ward’s narrows down the vehicles so that they are vehicles that would be attainable for the ‘average’ consumer.

The requirements to be considered are as follows:

• Engines must be available in regular-production vehicles on sale in the U.S.
• The engine also must be available in a vehicle with a base price of no more than:
  • $60,000 USD for 2015+
  • $50,000 USD for vehicles older than 2015.

During a 2-month testing period, editors assess each engine according to various criteria in everyday driving situations. Important things like power & torque output, noise, vibration and harshness, and technical relevance are taken into account.
